Let's start this by saying that not only am I not a writer, but I'm almost the farthest thing from it. I'm a structural engineer who has gotten lucky enough to find a great job in the heart of New York City, working with people who have slowly become some of my closest friends. Throughout my day, I do math and solve problems constantly, which is a far cry from writing a blog on sports or anything for that matter. But with that being said, seven years ago I fell in love with the sport of ice hockey.

I was just starting my freshman year at Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY. I was going into school with an indifference to the sport more than anything, but soon learned that up there, hockey was treated like religion. Within one week I became enveloped in the sport of college hockey and the Clarkson Golden Knights. I remember the first time I saw one of these guys around campus I was in awe, thinking about how this guy was going to be playing with 5,000 people cheering him on in two days time, but was just walking around campus like the rest of us. This love of the college game quickly transitioned to the pro game where I inherited my hometown team, the New York Islanders, if you couldn't tell from Matthew Schaefer being the poster boy of this website.

Since then, the Islanders have brought me some of the wildest, and some of the most depressing moments of my life as I had never felt so connected to a team before. This past year, I have found myself watching a bit more hockey than normal. I decided earlier in the year to give up video games, to be frank, so I wouldn't let my life slip through my fingers and the world continue on without me. With this time I've spent watching, I've realized that there is an opportunity for me to replace a bad hobby (video games) with a good one. One that I enjoy and lets me stretch my creative legs a bit around something that brings me a ton of joy. I love telling stories which famously turn out to be outrageously long, so why not put it on paper and see how it comes out.

This is how Tape to Tape came to life.
